As we enjoy our current read aloud, Westward to Home, we are learning more about
the experiences of those who traveled on the Oregon Trail.
Second graders are even using some of the same skills that the pioneers used!
They are using map skills,
examining and comparing several maps of the United States to explore the route.
As the students are constructing their "wagons" for the trail they need to work cooperatively and use the classroom resources wisely. The Pioneer motto comes to mind:
