The 2nd grade has been hard at work creating a beautiful city-scape collage to line the hallways in anticipation of our winter program. As a class we learned about the artwork of Romare Bearden and his use of simple shapes in collages to create the appearance of bustling city streets.
In keeping with the theme "El Dia y La Noche," students have created intricate cardboard "buildings" which they are painting with either day or night colors. We learned the vocabulary words "tint" for paint that is mixed with white, and "shade" for paint that is mixed with black. The 2nd grade artists are very eager to show off their creations next week!
