We started taking our owl pellets apart today! It was a very exciting class. Students began sorting rodent and bird bones that they found by dissecting the owl pellets with tweezers and probes. It was always most exciting to find a skull, but finding hips, jaws, teeth and ribs were pretty great too. They are identifying the bones using an owl pellet bone chart. Students are sorting the bones into small cups and will end up with an assortment of various bones to put on their owl pellet posters.
