Treasure

Today was the first TREASURE experience this year!  This activity has been a part of second grade for 18 years.   As the whole class sat quietly in circle Betsy took the first turn.  She had brought an item that is special to her in the Treasure Box.   After shaking the box, the students took turns asking yes or no questions to try to discern what was in the box.  This activity requires careful listening as each question is asked and answered.  Subsequent questions build using the information as it is gathered from previous answers.  Today was a fantastic first go for this  listening and thinking game.  The students discovered that Betsy's treasure was a pair of binoculars.  At the end the next person was chosen by picking a name from the can.  Students will each get several turns to do Treasure during the year, and as the year goes on, we will include many other teachers in the game.
